David Colin White

David struggled with mental health challenges and diabetes, and lived a very private life. In his healthier days he loved square dancing and travel. He was an avid reader, especially of science fiction and fantasy. He loved television, especially police procedurals, cozy mysteries, and MSNBC; and his favorite movie was Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. David was a concerned global citizen who always stayed up to date with current events, world politics and the state of democracy. However, his biggest passion was his dachshunds, whose wellbeing was the most important thing in his life.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and P.D. He is survived by his husband, Brian (together 26 years); his sister, Stacey, three nieces and a far flung family; as well as dear friends, John and Darren, Melanie and Bob, and the members of Céilí Sídhe. He was deeply loved and he will be sorely missed — I invite you to think of him whenever you look up to find the North Star, a still constant light which held great symbolism for David.

There will be no visitation and funeral at this time. Instead there will be memorial in May. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
