at the age of 58. He was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle and a
dear friend to so many; he will be sadly missed. David passed away
peacefully, yet unexpectedly, of natural causes in his Cabbagetown
apartment in Toronto. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1960
David’s family moved to Ancaster, and at the age of 18 he moved to
Toronto to live with his beloved grandmother, Evelyn Atchison. He
continued to call Toronto home.
David studied at Sheridan College in the early 1980’s, and enjoyed a long career in the hospitality industry. David was well liked by his clients and co-workers. He approached everything he did with enthusiasm and strove to give his very best, which is part of why he made many life-long friends which he still has today.
He had a passion for theatre, classic movies and Divas, both on screen and off, as well as the great pop stars and was known for his kindness, charisma and colourful charm.
David is predeceased by his father, Hugh John Mackenzie. He is survived by his loving mother Carolyn Mackenzie, sister Kathy Zurgilgen (Daniel), niece Emily of Invermere, and many extended family members. He is also predeceased by his long-time love Wilf Gaidosch.
