Charles Edgar Bishop died 12 December 2020. Born on Bell Island Newfoundland 17 June 1927 to Allan and Lilian Bishop, he was the middle child with two older sisters Gwen (Alex), Ollie (Wayne) and two younger brothers Allan (Gina) and Reg (Jana).
He grew up in St. John’s, went to Memorial University, graduating in Electrical Engineering from Nova Scotia Technical University in 1949.
He came to Toronto for a position with Ontario Hydro for whom he continued to work for for the next 38 years. In 1950 he married Phyllis Capper, with whom he shared 60 happy years.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter Frances Gwen Rushton (Mike), his son John Gart Bishop (Alison McArthur) his grandchildren Gwen Battye (Jamie), Matthew Rushton (Sarah), James Rushton (Prisca); and his great grandchildren Abby, Clare, Allie and Finn.
Charl filled an important place in the lives of his partner-in-later life, Siglint Fitting and her daughter Karen.
Charl enjoyed the out of doors, whether hunting, fishing, birdwatching or just walking. Being around family was important to him with frequent trips to Ottawa and New Brunswick to visit his children and grand children. Until Phyllis broke her hip, they had taken pleasure in exploring different parts of the world, either alone or with good friends.
He took pride in his home and work and enjoyed hobbies of woodworking and genealogy.
He felt he had lived a good life and had no regrets. May we all be able to say the same.
