Mrs. Barbara Hauer

Beloved wife of Karl Hauer for 67 years.

Loving mother of Gerhardt (Victoria), Norman (Loisann), Elizabeth (Markus).

Barbara will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Gloria, Christine, Samantha, Nicole (Joseph) as well as her great grandson Joey.

Barbara was born in Traunau Romania and was forced to flee as a refugee when she was 10 years old. In 1953, when she was 18, she immigrated to Canada. She became a proud Canadian citizen who loved her adopted country and her chosen city of Toronto. She was a kind and gentle person who was a very passionate hobbyist. Her many hobbies included knitting, needle point, sewing, cooking, baking and story writing. Barbara loved to tell the stories of her life experiences and given the turbulent times in which she grew up, she had many great stories to tell. She was a wonderful mom to her 3 children, as well as a wonderful grandmother. She had a great zest for life that she shared with everyone she came in contact with. If Barbara liked Mozart or fried chicken you knew about it. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at the Kane-Jerrett North York Funeral Home (6191 Yonge St. south of Steeles Ave.) on Wednesday January 24, 2024 from 10 am until time of the funeral service which will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am.

Interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
