Mama Audrey  the ancestors have embraced you and you have taken your seat among them. As you watch over all the children you mothered, may they be comforted by the love, wisdom and determination you shared. You live on through them. Give thanks and walk good!

My heart breaks. I'm so sorry to hear 2016 has touched your family too...
I remember vividly meeting your mother and what an honour it was. I send to you and Jajube my deepest condolences. 
She has left behind two equally strong rocks, and a thunderous presence in this world that will not be forgotten, and will continue to shape and change it for all the better. 

All my best wishes and blessings to you, Jajube and your family during this difficult time. 

Hold on to her love and memory to see your way through to the other side. You don't need me to tell you that there is one, just needs time.

I am so sorry for your loss. 
Such wonderful women as you both could only come from a even stronger root. 
Your mother/grandmother must have been an amazing woman and hope that you receive comfort knowing that energy doesn't disappear but just moves in different ways. She isn't gone- her energy/spirit is here and in places you may never even consider. Sending love and light during this time to you both- and when things get hard ask for her and know that she is there.

Greetings Garry, Ahdri and Jajube. On behalf of Abena, Juma, Nanyamka, Ayinde, Yohance, Ginelle and myself, please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother and grandmother. I remember her only for her kindness and beautiful spirit. Though I have not seen her for a few years I can only imagine that she left us with the same grace that touched those of us that had the pleasure of knowing her. 

Longevity is not guaranteed to any. I congratulate her on her nine decades of life on our planet. She has seen much, but more importantly she has left us abundance, often manifested in the works of her talented descendants.

I am sure that she will always be present in all of you. In Garry's face, in Ahdri's majestic persona in Jajube's calm in Jamara and other next gen family members. Please know that though we were unable to join in Mom's celebration of life, our thoughts are with you all. Please feel a big hug from all of us.

In my short time of getting to know her, I thoroughly enjoyed her company. She made me laugh, at times jump with her no nonsense self (lol!), and still made space to share some very necessary words of wisdom. She helped me get closer to my own mother and begin the work on myself.  I will miss her colorful personality, her expressive eyes caught so well in this photo of her, and her appreciation for music.  Thank you Ms.Carbery for sharing space with me, for letting me visit you, dote on you, sing to you, be vulnerable around you, and care about you. You will truly be missed and remembered by me.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother. Though I never met her in person, knowing that she had a part in raising you to be the strong, confident, and vibrant woman you are, then she was most certainly a forced to be reckoned with.

Dear Ahdri and Jajube, my thoughts and feelings are with you and family. I am always inspired by your actions as I know you were of Audrey's. My condolences and love,

i didn't know ms. carbery -- i met her only briefly in passing. in the precious time i've been near her daughter ahdri, i witnessed unusually deep and broad awareness, wisdom, respect, knowledge, perspective, generosity, patience, creativity, and much more. my time with jajube included rare energy, reflection, determination, exploration, committment, presence, and strength. i wonder if those who knew ms. carbery would find any of this familiar. i'm thankful to her for her influence in her daughter and grand-daughter's lives because they have in turn brought invaluable enrichment and opportunity to my life. such gifts are hard to quantify or acknowledge, yet here we are: in memory of a dear lost mother, grandmother, bearer of stories untold and some likely unenviable experiences; a slice of history and times and places interred with her bones, yet may all the good that Audrey did live after her in those that know it. ps: i don't believe love ever dies although it may seem silent. i hope you feel it always.

There are no words that can really express how my heart swells for you both. My mum passed at the end of November and I can hardly believe she is actually gone. There was much beauty and pain in the weeks of my own mothers illness, and I feel as though I see much more of what death and life can be. I experience in ways I have never before. 

I didn't know your mum Ahdri and your grandmother Jajube but I can imagine all her spirit. The two of you have inspired me from the moments I met you. Your lineage is clearly powerful. I feel tears coming as I imagine what it was like to be in Audrey's physical presence. 

As I spoke with you on the phone Jajube I could hear your similar experience, feelings, and thoughts. It warmed my heart to know others live and think the way I do. It eases my own pain to share life with you and grow beauty. 

I watched a documentary called 'Lucky' the other day and there was this quote at the beginning. It is something I really needed and so I pass it on to you both in hopes that it may bring you whatever it is you may be needing. 

The wound is the place where the light enters you.

For ahdri & jajube and all the other members of your family who were connected to Audrey; I hope you are able to remember and celebrate what must have been a truly great life. For her to raise a daughter and granddaughter as connected and strong, and creative as you she had to have had one. May her memory and spirit continue through you two.
