Thomas Richard Crabbe, 91, of Toms River, passed away on December 5, 2020 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Hillside, NJ to the late Thomas Louis and Madeline Crabbe, Thomas grew up in Newark, lived in Union and resided in Toms River since 1998. He was employed by Gannett Outdoor Advertising as a Billboard Sign Painter for 43 years. Thomas proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II (non-combat). He was a jack of all trade and enjoyed tinkering around the home. Thomas was a jokester, he lived to make people laugh. He enjoyed life to the fullest, including white water rafting in his 70s and sky diving at age 80. Thomas used his painting talent to design holiday yard art for his family and friends. Thomas also enjoyed giving of his time; he volunteered at Union Memorial Hospital and Community Medical Center for over 20 years, delivered meals-on-wheels with Ruth, was always active in his churches including the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.
But most of all Thomas loved his family – he never let a chance go by to tell his family how much he loved them. Not only with his words but with his beautiful blue eyes.
He was predeceased by four siblings. Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years Ruth (Bonat) Crabbe, two daughters Carlene Reyes and husband Alfredo and Caren Anuszewski and husband Stanley; 7 cherished grandchildren Alden, Eva, Hayden, Nina, Ian, Hannah and Ethan; sisters-in-law Nora Perna and Mildred Bonat; and many caring nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River.
