Ronald Szukics, 69, of Barnegat (formerly of Toms River) passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ to the late Joseph and Mildred, Ron had lived in Toms River for 41 years before settling in Barnegat six months ago. Ron was a Registered Pharmacist for 41 years. During his Pharmaceutical career he had owned and operated the Weir's Pharmacy in Manasquan and worked for Kmart Pharmacy, Toms River, retiring from Optimal Pharmacy Neptune in 2018.
Ron was a lifelong devoted Yankees, Giants and Fantasy Football fan. In 2021 he was the proud Fantasy Football League Champion for his family league. He enjoyed painting in his spare time as well as a good day out on the water fishing. His biggest catch came from a family vacation spent in the Florida Keys. He was an excellent chef and baker who loved to entertain whether it was family or friends. Ron was a two time cancer survivor and ardent fighter till the end. He loved to travel and spend time with his family, whether it was spent on an exotic island or in his backyard. He had an infectious personality, was very optimistic, loved his friends and family dearly and always left everyone with a smile on their face. Ron was an incredible husband, father, father in law, brother, uncle, great uncle, friend and role model to all who had the good fortune of knowing him.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Frances, his two sons, Peter of Toms River, NJ, Patrick and his wife Christina of Philadelphia, PA, his brother, Leslie and his wife Connie, his sister JoAnn Lawrence and her husband Alex, his sister in law, Barbara Theophilakos and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving is Ron's furbaby Cooper.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 18, 2022 9:15 am at St. Luke’s RC Church, Toms River. Interment will follow to St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
