Michael Allen Barozzie was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He left this world suddenly on February 5, 2022, at the age of 44, as he was called home by the Lord. He was a passionate musician, a devoted husband and dad, and a loyal Pittsburgh sports fan. He was born to Allen and Cheryl Barozzie on July 10, 1977, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. At an early age, Michael showed a gift for music as he began singing, playing the piano, and composing his own songs. One of his first and favorite places to perform in his childhood years was the church. At that time, his love and devotion to God began to develop into what would become a lifetime of serving the Lord.
Michael’s passion and dedication to both music and God and his calling to serve the church led him into numerous roles at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, New Jersey. He spent twenty years serving the church as a director of music, a director of children’s ministry, a worship leader, and most recently the director of the special needs ministry. He initiated the special needs ministry since it was a personal calling that was close to his heart. Michael’s impact on others was not limited to just those who he served through ministry; instead, he touched the lives of countless individuals in every aspect of his life.
What Michael loved and cherished most was his family. Jennifer (Drapczak) Barozzie, wife of 22 years, and Michael’s sons, Matthew and David, were at the center of his world. One of the things he enjoyed most in life was sharing and creating laughter and music, playing games, and enjoying sports with Jenn and the boys.
Michael is also survived by his immediate family including mother, Cheryl (Yex) Barozzie; father, Allen Barozzie; grandmother, Marie Yex; sister, Amy (Barozzie) Cramer (Josh); niece, Jocelyn Cramer; and nephew, Brandt Cramer. He had a large network of extended family and close friends.
Michael will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River (NJ) on Saturday, February 12, at 10 a.m. The service will also be livestreamed at pctr.org/live.
Due to the sudden and tragic loss, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honor Michael may make a contribution to Matthew and David's scholarship fund via Linda Sitek through mail at 8 Maiden Lane, Toms River, NJ, 08753.
