Linda Jacobus Applegate, loving mother, nana, sister and friend died on June 17 in Toms River at the age of 65. She lived in Manasquan and moved to Maplewood as a child where she later graduated from Columbia High School. She attended Orange Memorial Hospital Nursing School. After getting married, she spent her life and career raising 4 daughters and caring for the elderly in both hospitals and homes. She put love and caring into the lives of her patients and treated them like family. She was recognized as employee of the month countless times. She loved gardening, music, animals, antiques, traditions and most of all, her family. She lived the remainder of her life in the Toms River area. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Ellen Jacobus, her sister, Suzanne Howarth and grandson, Nolan O’Leary. Surviving are her children, Rachel Thorne, Julia Applegate, Melissa O’Leary and Mary Ballard and 9 grandchildren, Jonah, Jacob, Joshua, Lindsey, Richard, Molly, Michael, Jack and Peter. She is also survived by one brother and 4 sisters, Thomas, Dawn, Faire, Wendy and Lori. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday June 27th from 3:00 P.M. until the memorial service at 5:00 P.M. at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River, NJ.
