Kenneth E. Stevens Jr.

Kenneth E. Stevens, Jr., 64, of Toms River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, Ken lived most of his life in Toms River. He was a local businessman in Toms River for many years and was recently employed by Alert Ambulance Service in Lakewood as an EMT. Ken proudly served with the Toms River Fire Co. No. 1 where he was a life member; past Fire Police Captain; and Trustee. Ken also served as District Fire Warden for N.J. Forest Fire Service for the past 45 years.

He was predeceased by his father Kenneth E. Stevens Sr. Surviving are his beloved wife and lifelong best friends of 42 years Catherine; his mother Alice Stevens of MA; two daughters Michele Pagel and her husband Jay of Egg Harbor Twp. and Jessica Essman and her husband Christopher of Toms River; his brother Douglas Stevens of Toms River; his sister Debra Savje of MA; and his cherished grandchildren Keary Michael, Katie Marie and Kenneth Christopher Essman. Also surviving are three brother-in-laws Paul W. Rowe, Gary D’Alessio and Mark D’Alessio; a sister-in-law Cheryl D’Alessio Coleman; long time best friends Frank and Lorraine Fallaw and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2011, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Fireman’s Service at 8:00 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River. Cremation will be private.
