Katherine R. Uher, 83, of Toms River, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 7, 2021 at her home. She was a devout Catholic born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. As a young child, her family gave her the nickname of Chickie but as she grew up her peers would call her Kathy. At the age of 18, Kathy started working at ABC News in Manhattan. Moving to Queens, NY to Edison, NJ to Newtown, CT, Kathy ultimately found her home in Toms River, NJ where she has lived for the past 52 years. Kathy was the secretary for Dover Township Public Works for 27 years before retiring in 2000.
Kathy is predeceased by her parents, Vito and Carmela (Millie) Natale. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Mizrachi and her husband Jay of Toms River; Sons, Larry Uher of Hamilton and Kevin Uher of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Danielle and her husband Dennis, Matthew and his wife Danielle, Marissa, Jared, Brielle, Jordyn and Ben; 4 great grandchildren, Liam, Layla, Katerina and Evangelina; her sister, Rose Lisciandro of Long Island and nieces, Lorraine and her husband Rob, and Adrienne; great nieces and nephews, Tyler, Jesse, Juliette and Garrett.
Kathy lived a busy, full life. She went on several cruises and vacationed in many states, including Hawaii and Alaska, but her favorites were Sanibel Island, Florida and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Kathy loved going to the beach and being surrounded by family and friends with her toes in the sand. She enjoyed playing Mahjong and meeting her friends to paint or gather for their book club. It was rare to see Kathy not knitting or crocheting as she was always making blankets, sweaters or scarfs. Kathy was a bright light at any function where she would be found singing and dancing. She has left us with many wonderful memories and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 12-3 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 2:30.
