Karen was liked by everyone she met, known for her kind, gentle, comforting, and funny nature, making her easy to talk to and unique. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband Dennis B. McKenna, her children Sean McKenna and Lauren (Jason) Boros, A brother Thomas C. Krisak Jr, Grandchildren Jason Jr, Andrew, Justin, and Jett, as well as her beloved granddogs Rusty, Oliver, and Daisy. Karen is predeceased by her father Thomas C. Krisak Sr., her mother Elaine F. Krisak, her grandson Joseph Christopher Boros, and her cherished dogs Barney, Bennie, and Molly, along with granddog Chloe.
Karen graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1976 and pursued further education at Ocean County College.
In her career, Karen started as a secretary at GAB. She received a Medical Transcription Certification from OCC. Her most memorable job was at Community Medical Center from 1999 to 2014. She later became self-employed as a legal transcriptionist.
Karen's hobbies included baking for her grandchildren, crafting, shopping and decorating with her daughter, joking with her son and son-in-law, sailing with her husband, camping in Lancaster, PA and Cape May, singing and dancing with her grandchildren, talking on the phone for hours to friends and relatives, and walks with her granddog Rusty.
The family will receive relatives and dear friends on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, with a visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753, followed by a Funeral mass at 11:30 AM at St. Justin the Martyr Church, 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, with a service to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 62 Cedar Grove Rd, Toms River.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Karen's name to The TEARS Foundation.
