John T Woods

John T. Woods,91 of Berkeley Township passed away, Friday, February 9th to join his beloved wife of almost 66 years. Born January 22,1933 in Hackensack,NJ only child to Rosann Woods. He was an altar boy at Holy Trinity Church. John attended and graduated from Holy Trinity High School. He had started his studies to become a priest and continued his studies in the Navy. John worked at the Oritani Movie Theater in Hackensack where he met the love of his life and they married in May 1954. He worked at Cable Works in Hackensack and Veasy Murphy in Carlstadt, NJ as a mechanical pump engineer until he retired in 1995.

After retiring John and Joan moved to Berkeley Township where they started a new chapter in their lives together. John's hobbies included gardening with his wife, reading the Daily News everyday, and watching baseball. He was a die hard Mets fan. John was a dedicated husband, son, brother, and uncle.

John is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of almost 66 years Joan Woods(2020), brother-in-law Frank Dickson, Larry Dickson and his wife Beverly, Glenn Dickson,sister-in-law Louise and Karl Nakatan. Also preceding him in death is his mother Rosann, and his father and mother-in-law George and Elizabeth Dickson.

John was a devoted uncle and godfather to his nieces Linda(Dickson) & John Wanamaker, JoAnn Dickson & Michael Sers, his great nephew George Dickson and great-great niece Grace Dickson.

A visitation for John will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Following the visitation the will be a burial at 1:00 PM at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07653.
