Joan Krahling Lammond Magnussen, age 77, of Forked River, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Linden, NJ and graduated from Linden High School in 1955. Joan moved to South Toms River in 1961, and then moved to Forked River in 1986. She was a confidential secretary, working for the NJ Superior Court, Trial Court Administrator’s Office in Ocean County Courthouse, Toms River for 26 years, retiring in 2002.
Joan was predeceased by her parents Peter and Rita Krahling; her brother Peter C. Krahling and half-brother Bob.
Joan married John Lammond (deceased 2002) and had three beloved children; John, Kathleen and Kevin. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law Maryann Lammond; her cherished grandchildren Christopher and Kristen; her aunt Dorothy Wills; and thirteen cousins. She had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, extended family and friends; and her adopted kids by heart, Katie, Chris and Debbie; and her best friend Sandy. In 1970 Joan married Robert Magnussen, who passed away in 1999. She lived with her loving companion George Smith for 11 years in Brick, NJ, until his death in 2013 when she returned to her home in Forked River. Joan loved crocheting baby outfits and afghans.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. at Anderson and Campbell. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.
