James A. Scott, 69, of South Toms River, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the VA Medical Hospital in East Orange. Born in Jersey City, he was a longtime resident of South Toms River. He was employed by Ciba-Geigy in Toms River for 20 years, retiring in 1990. He proudly served in the Army, and he was a member of American Legion Post 129 in Toms River. Jim was very skilled at woodworking, something he enjoyed very much.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Anna Marie and his sister Rose Haynes. Surviving are his devoted wife of 20 years, Elaine Scott; his children, Thomas Scott, Kim Leary and her husband Michael, Jennifer Trainer and her husband Frank and Christopher O'Shaughnessy; 9 grandchildren, Thomas, Sean, Anna Marie, Michael, Brittany, Keegan, Tristan, Elaine and Ava; his great grandson, Nicholas James; his sister Winnie Bruen and her husband Raymond; and numerous nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday Oct. 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown.
