Helen C. Moore, 98, of Toms River, passed away peacefully in the evening of May 12, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she married and raised her children in Paramus, NJ before retiring to the Jersey Shore. After graduating from Henry Snyder High School, Jersey City, Helen worked as a secretary in the office of Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation, NYC. While living in Paramus she worked for the Paramus Board of Education as a Special Education Teacher Aide. After retiring to Holiday City, Helen worked as a care giver for developmentally disabled children with The ARC of Ocean County.
A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Beachwood, NJ, Helen was involved in the Lutheran Church Women, Social Ministry, and Inter-Faith Hospitality. She especially enjoyed volunteering for Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey. In Paramus, Helen was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church serving in Sunday Church School, Girl Scouts, Social Ministry and Church Counsel. Altruistic in nature, her kindness and compassion extended to her volunteerism as a nurse’s aide at local hospitals in Jersey City during WWII.
Helen was predeceased by her devoted husband Herbert Moore, WWII Army veteran, brother Andrew Hoys, Torpedoman’s Mate US Navy, and brothers John Hoys and George Peter Hoys. She is survived by her son Robert and wife Rosalyn Moore, Hopatcong, daughter Joan Shapiro and partner Joseph Fragala, Avon; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have a wonderful family and was very proud of them all.
Visitation will be held on Sunday May 22, 2022 from 1-5pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River NJ 08755. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday May 23rd at 10am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 130 Cable Ave., Beachwood NJ 08722. Private burial services.
