Frank Anthony Martucci, 81, of Toms River, NJ (formerly of SI, NY) peacefully passed at home surrounded by his loving family on July 27, 2018. Frank was a native Staten Islander and settled in New Dorp after he was married and raised his family there.
Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired NYPD officer and a retired First Sergeant in the US Army. Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary (nee Colucci), children: MaryAnne, Edward, and Michilina and Gerard Scala; three grandchildren, Lorenzo, Adrianna and Angelo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mom, Mary I. Janeczek and stepdad, Walter Janeczek and his brother George Matthews.
Frank used to walk around New Dorp and had many stops along the way where he met with friends and neighbors alike. He was an avid bowler as well. He bowled in many leagues both at Rab's Country Lanes in Dongan Hills and the Showplace in Travis. Frank loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He would spend hours tending to and caring for his vegetable garden; he was especially proud of his famous array of tomatoes and squash.
Frank also received an AAS from Staten Island College. Frank was a member of the US Dept of Veteran Affairs, the VFW-Beauvais Hudson Post 126 (SI), the NYC Verrazano 1013 Assoc Inc. as well as the Jersey Shore 1013 Organization. He was also a member of the Columbian NYPD Association and the Pulaski NYPD Association.
Visitation is Thursday, August 2, from 2-4pm & 6-9pm, at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. Funeral is Friday, August 3 at 11am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Risen Christ Chapel in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 62 Cedar Grove Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753. Interment at 1pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
