AGE: 77 Toms River
Frank "Fritz" Kumitis, 77, of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at home. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., he lived in Newark before moving to Toms River in 1971. Frank was employed by General Motors in Linden for 39 years before retiring in 2002 as an inspector. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Frank was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Toms River. He was a member of American Legion Post 129 in Toms River, and he loved to fish.
He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly J. Kumitis, in 1999. Surviving are his sons, Russell Kumitis and his wife Maureen and Robert Kumitis and his wife Sandy; his daughter, Grace Smith and her husband Kirk; his brother, John Kumitis of CT; his sister, Bernice Gajdos of FL; and his grandchildren, Katie, Russ, Frank, Nicole, Ashley and Thomas.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at St. Joseph's Church, Toms River. Cremation will be private.
