Dolores H. Kulig

1935 – 2024

Dolores “Dee” Kulig, 89, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on December 5, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in 1935, Dee was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister Doris, her brother Leon, and her husband, Gene.

After graduating from Hazleton High School, Dee earned her nursing degree from Temple University in 1956. She moved to Toms River, NJ, in 1958, where she built a life dedicated to family, community, and her career. She later completed her education at Jersey City University. Dee worked as a school nurse at Toms River High School East from 1979 to 2000, where she was known for her professionalism and dedication.

Dee was active in the community, especially through her work with the Ocean County Girl Scout Council, where she served as a Brownie leader, leader trainer, camp nurse, neighborhood chair, and board member for 17 years.

In her free time, Dee enjoyed reading, traveling with her twin sister and friends, playing piano for her annual Christmas parties, painting, and going to the beach. She loved attending Broadway shows and spending time with her dogs.

She is survived by her three children: Sandy (Paul) Steeds of Canada, Kathy (Steve) Ahrens of Lanoka Harbor, and Karen (Larry) Kovalick of California. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Justin, Mark, Lauren, Kristen, Noah, and Grace, and her great-grandson Ryder.

Dee’s kindness, strong work ethic, and love for family and friends will be remembered by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dee’s memory to a local animal shelter.

A visitation for Dolores will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753.
