Catherine Hegarty Pettineo died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at her home. She was 81.
Born in Newark, she resided in Kearny and Belleville before settling in Toms River 15 years ago.
Prior to retiring, Catherine was a secretary to the chairman of the board for Prudential Insurance in Newark, where she worked for over 20 years. She also loved volunteering at St. John's Catholic Church in Newark, where she was a parishioner.
Surviving are her loving husband of 32 years, Mario; her son, Greg Lewis and his girlfriend Christina Nolan; her step-children: Valerie Figueredo and her husband Tony, Karen Hartman and her husband Bob, and Renee Vernieri and her husband John; and 6 grandchildren.
A cryptside service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the mausoleum in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Entombment will immediately follow.
