Bernard Wallace was born on July 4, 1936 in Beith, Scotland. At the age of 17 he came to the United States and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served from 1954-1957. His time serving our country was something he was always so proud of and he would tell everyone about his time as a Marine.
Soon going by the nickname Scotty due to his Scottish heritage, he went on to become a bartender at various bars and restaurants in Manhattan, the Bronx and Westchester County, New York. Scotty tended bar with a smile and sarcastic remarks. You could guarantee that if Scotty was behind the bar there would be a constant chorus of laughter because of all his jokes and stories. He would sometimes even put on a show singing “April Showers” for his adoring audience. On his days off he would play golf and enjoy time with his family.
In June 2002, Scotty retired from bartending and soon after, he and his loving wife, Patricia moved to Whiting, New Jersey. He even worked part time at a golf course in the early years of his retirement. His neighbors recall him as always having a smile as he sat outside reading in the sun.
Scotty loved to watch sports. He was a dedicated New York Yankees and New York Giants fan and watched every game. He never hesitated to comment on his feelings on bad calls and terrible plays, and all who knew him knew exactly which players he loved and those he did not. He loved to watch golf on television and loved to recap these sporting events to his wife, children and neighbors. He read The New York Post cover to cover every single day, and never had a shortage of opinions on current affairs. Scotty loved animals and always had a special, caring way with his pets.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 53 years, Patricia Wallace of Whiting, New Jersey. His loving children; Christian and his wife Eileen, his son James and his daughter Kerri-Ann and her husband Christopher. As well as the five grandchildren he adored; Brendan, Liam, Emma, Riley and Raegan.
