Barbara Theophilakos

Barbara Theophilakos, 72, of Jackson, NJ passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ to the late Peter and Helen Progacky, she grew up in Perth Amboy until moving to Jackson, NJ in 1973. She was a retired nurse who started her career in the Emergency Room at Centrastate Hospital, Freehold, NJ and later worked for Bartley Manor Nursing Home, Jackson until her retirement in 2015.

Barbara loved spending time with her family, playing spider solitaire, looking for new recipes to share with family and doing homework with her grandsons. In the summer months you could find Barbara floating in her daughters pool with her grandsons or sunbathing on the beaches in Wildwood, NJ during their annual family vacation. Barbara was a very caring, loving and giving woman who always put everyone before herself and she will be dearly missed by all.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Dwight in 1987, her brother Stanley Progacky and her brother in law Ronald Szukics. Surviving are her two children, Melissa Plank and her husband Andy, Dwight Jr., and her two beloved grandsons, Marshall and Jackson. Also surviving are her sister Frances Szukics, her two nephews, Peter Szukics, Patrick (Christina) Szukics and a host of loving family and friends.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755. A committal service will be said Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 12:00 PM at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
