devoted wife for 52 years to the late Thomas Joseph Kane, Jr.,
beloved mother of Thomas J. Kane, III and his wife Patricia, Mary Jeanne Ordakowski and her husband Milton and Joanne M. Davis and her husband Glenn; dear sister of the late Joseph Piombino, III.;
cherished grandmother of TJ, Patrick and Maggie Kane, Miltie and Joey Ordakowski, and Charlie and Jay Davis.
Rosa Maria (Piombino) Kane was born and raised in the Guilford & Woodbrook communities of Baltimore, Maryland. After marrying Thomas J. Kane Jr, they settled in Rodgers Forge, where they raised a family and lived for 49 years. Rose & Tom moved to Mays Chapel North in 2007. She was married for 52 years, before her husband preceded her in death in 2010.
Rose attended the Institute of Notre Dame from first through twelfth grade. She graduated from Notre Dame College/University with a degree in Mathematics in 1957. Upon graduation from college, Rose worked at Baltimore Gas & Electric as a mathematician. Rose earned her master’s degree in education from Loyola College/University in the 1970’s.
Rose was a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade teacher from 1968 to 1981 at St. Pius X School. Rose followed up her teaching career with a new role as Principal at Madonna Elementary for another 18 years before retiring. Rose was a substitute teacher at St. Pius X, Immaculate Conception, Shrine of the Sacred Heart, and St. Thomas Aquinas for several years. Rose also served on multiple Catholic school boards over several decades. Rose served multiple volunteer roles within the Archdiocesan, Elementary & Middle School Development and Accreditation, & Catholic Church communities over her lifetime.
The family will receive friends in the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY, INC., 10 West Padonia Road, Timonium, MD 21093 on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 6428 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212 on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 233 Homeland Ave., Baltimore, MD 21212.
