Pauline Mabel Stark (nee Pinion) died peacefully on March 24, 2014 at her home in Timonium, MD from complications of strokes. She enjoyed 99 years of life. Pauline was born on March 16, 1915 to the late Paul A. and Mabel Pinion in Norfolk, Nebraska. When Pauline was three her mother died and she was raised by her father and Aunt Minnie.
Pauline graduated from Pender High School in 1932 in Pender, Nebraska. She continued her education at Wayne State Teacher’s College and then worked as a nursing student at The Nebraska Methodist Episcopal Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska earning her nursing certification as a registered nurse in 1939. In 1939 Pauline moved to Arlington, Virginia to live with her brother Dwight Pinion.
Pauline met her true love Alexander Stark on a blind date and married on October 7, 1941 and enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his death in 2008. Pauline and Alexander served in the Army during World War Two. She was a 2nd Lieutenant nurse in the Army serving her country at the Camp Carson in El Paso County, Colorado earning her WWII Victory Medal. She was helping her fellow wounded soldiers recover from the war while Mr. Stark's enlistment took him to the South Pacific. After the Army they lived in Baltimore Maryland and she enjoyed raising her four children. Pauline continued her nursing career working for the US Public Health Services, Kernan Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
Pauline was the loving wife of the late Alexander Stark; devoted mother of Jeanne Peduzzi and her husband David, Stan Stark and Robert Stark and his wife Joyce and Sharon Stark; dear sister of the late Dwight and Jack Pinion; cherished grandmother of Christopher and Shiloh Stark and Jennifer Lee; great grandmother of Carter Stark, Sydney Stark and Connor Lee.
The family will receive friends in the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY INC., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Thursday, March 27 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday, March 28 at 11am. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
