Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Powell, and his sons Alexander and Nicholas, (Rita Gonsalves). He was a loving husband and father, and his family meant the world to him.
Bill dedicated four years of his life to serving in the Navy as a corpsman. His time on the USS Kamehameha SSBN-642 was especially meaningful to him.
Following his time in the Navy, Bill moved to Portland Oregon. He retired as a driver from Tri-Met in 2018. He drove Max for a time but missed the interaction with the riders and went back to driving buses.
Bill enjoyed being around his boys and his daughter-in-law. He loved it when Nick & Rita brought their dog Zippy to visit and always made sure he had chicken on hand for Zippy. Bill’s favorite pastime was listening to music. Especially classical and guitar. He also liked reading science-related articles and world history. Bill will be missed and remembered fondly.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.youngsfuneralhome.org for the Powell family.
