Ian D.G. McKechnie

2015. Ian was born in Brighton, England on December 10 th 1937 and raised during

The Blitz in WWII. Ian completed his British A Levels and joined the Royal Air

Force, where he became a Russian linguist. His military service took him to Hong

Kong and eventually Aden (modern‐day Yemen). In Yemen, Ian met his wife of 54

years, Donna (Rand) McKechnie. Having fulfilled his military service, he began a

successful banking career in London. Eventually, Ian and Donna moved to Oregon

where he served as CFO of Equitable and later Benjamin Franklin Savings & Loan.

Ian was involved with many charitable boards including the Oregon Symphony,

NOAH, Boy Scouts, City Club and the University Club. He was admired by his peers

and co‐workers and respected by the local business community. Lastly, he was a

passionate sports fan, specifically soccer ‐ he loved to attend Timbers and

University of Portland Pilots games, usually with one of his sons in tow.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; their son Andrew, his wife, Wendy, and their

three children ‐ Mason, Spencer and Connor; their son Evan and his wife, Renee;

his brother, John; his sister, Janet, and her husband, Duncan. He lived a very full,

rewarding life and will be dearly missed.
