Debbie was born on September 2, 1964 to Vernon and Connie Mitchell (Ernest) in Salt Lake City, Utah. Debbie grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1982.
Debbie always wanted to be an attorney but found herself working in retail management to provide for her family. This lead to many adventures and opportunities to travel around the United States. At age 26 Debbie welcomed a daughter, Ashlee, and immediately strived to be the best mother and role model. She continued to move up through companies in retail and became the Regional West Coat Manager of Old Navy. Debbie found a passion in running a large group of people but felt as if there was a greater purpose for her professional career.
At age 36 Debbie left her job at Old Navy and went back to school to complete her undergraduate degree from Boise State University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boise State in two and a half years. During this time Debbie and Ashlee lived with her boyfriend, Bret, and daughter Gabby. Debbie started instilling the importance of tradition into her growing family. She loved cooking a big Sunday dinner and hosting family game nights on Saturdays. Her house was always decorated for holidays, but a modern Christmas tree remained in her living room year-round. One of Debbie’s favorite holiday traditions was attending The Nutcracker Ballet.
After living in Boise for four years Debbie and Ashlee moved to Eugene, Oregon where she attended and graduated from University of Oregon Law and obtained her Juris Doctorate Degree.
She was presently working as Associate Managing Attorney for Travelers Insurance. Debbie was very passionate about her job and loved shocking people with her fierce skills in the court room. She always said there was no better feeling in the world than winning a challenging case. Along with her passion for law her other hobbies included: A love for fashion, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends, dogs, and family. Debbie prided herself in being a single mother and always tried to be the best role model for her daughter Ashlee.
Debbie is survived by her daughter Ashlee Mitchell Grider (husband James Grider), bonus-daughter Gabrielle Nichele Morgan, brother Jeff Mitchell (wife Rebecca Mitchell), sister Tricia Liljenquist (husband Kip Liljenquist). Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Connie Mitchell.
