Thomas William Young

Thomas William Young, Tom to so many, and too many nicknames to list, age 63, passed away with his family by his side, Friday, August 18, 2023. Tom came into this world in the entryway of his family home in Dansville, NY, on January 29, 1960. He left us after giving so much love his heart could no longer keep up.

Tom ran track in high school, always the short distance, getting it done as fast as he could. In Dansville he made friends for life, so many of whom he was still in touch with. After high school he left his hometown and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History and minor in Marketing from Ashland University in Ohio, where he was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. His love of history led him to a passion for our National Parks and historic sites.

Tom’s career had him directly and indirectly involved in the construction industry. From slinging concrete to collecting construction news to selling construction materials, Tom had a knack for working within the industry. Through his career he created an even larger circle of lifelong friends.

In 2004, after searching and almost giving up, he found the love of his life, Liz (Doyle). Tom and Liz married September 3, 2005. They made their home in Colorado, where Tom had already lived for many years. In 2008 they welcomed their only child and the absolute love of both their lives, Annalee

Tom will be remembered as a kind and committed friend, the passionate and hardworking employee, the most loving husband and partner and, most importantly for him, the best dad he could have ever been for his bug.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Anna Jane (Dodds) Young. Tom is survived by wife Liz (Doyle) Young, his brother John Young, and his sisters Martha Gowans, Donna Curry and Jane Young. As well as many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews that love him dearly.

In addition to the services in CO, Tom will be celebrated in Dansville, NY on October 14, 2023. Additional arrangements will be shared soon.

A memorial service for Thomas will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229, followed by a reception from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
