Robert Wayne Harrison was born September 10, 1938 to Wayne Clarence Harrison and Opal (Eckard) Harrison, in Alamosa, CO. Robert or known as “Bob” and later as “Big Bob”, was the first child of the Harrison household.
Bob went to grade schools in Mesita and Alamosa Colorado, and Hill Field, Utah. He attended Kearney Jr. high, Adams City and Bear Creek High schools. Bob graduated from Bear Creek in 1958. He then went on to serve in the Army in Southern France from 1958-1962. Bob then married Malinda Candes Hurlbert in 1962, and together they had three children; Laura Lucille, Howard Roy and Robert Wayne Jr. Bob and his wife divorced in 1973.
He worked various jobs, and attended a trade school for air conditioning and heating, and completed the course in 1974. Bob then married Shirley Mae Ewing in 1975. He worked for Executive Towers Hotel for 25 years in the maintenance department and retired in 2002.
Bob endured many health-related problems. He had 10 major surgeries, a broken nose, appendicitis, a ruptured spleen, broken legs, a broken shoulder, five knee surgeries, including two knee caps removed. Bob also had three knee replacements, two open heart surgeries on two valves, chemical burns, Bell’s palsy, shingles, sugar diabetes, and needed oxygen.
Bob enjoyed doing leather crafts, hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved children and animals, particularly dogs. He always had suckers for children, wore western attire and large cowboy hats.
Bob was active in his church and was in the choir. He was also an usher in church and helped count the offerings. In most places he was known as “Big Bob”.
Bob is survived by his wife Shirley, his son Robert Wayne Harrison Jr.,(Brenda), his daughter Laura Brannin, his grandson Roy Brannin and his sister Peggy Cress, along with various nieces and nephews and various great nieces and nephews.
