Richard R. Colby, Sr, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 17, 2023 in Thornton, CO. He was 72 years old. Rich was born on November 2, 1950 in Denver, Colorado to the late John and Mary Colby.
Rich grew up and attended schools in the Denver area. He graduated from Douglas County High School in 1968 and earned a BAM degree from the University of Phoenix in 1992. After his high school graduation, he joined the Marine Corp. He did two tours of duty in Vietnam and, after 11 years in the Marine Corp, he separated with an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant. He married his wife of 37 years Roberta in April of 1982.
Richard worked many years for the VA Medical Center as a research administrator. After retiring from the VAMC, he drove a school bus for the Douglas County School District.
Rich loved to fish, read, gamble around the country and spent many fun times with his friends at the Glenn Bar and Grill in Northglenn.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta (Bobbie) Colby; loving children, Michelle Colby, Brandi Colby and Richard R. Colby, Jr. His older brother Raymond Colby, who remained his best friend and adult companion his entire life. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Crystal, Cadence and Maria.
