Mitchell Lee Lovett, 67, of Westminster, CO passed away September 27th, 2022. Mitch is survived by spouse, Robin Lovett; son, Erin Telitz and his wife, Jen and daughter, Ella; and daughter, Cara Carlson and her husband, Joel.
Mitch grew up in Denver where he attended Ranum high school, then went on to receive the Associate Degree of Applied Science from Red Rocks Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Management from National American University graduating with academic honors. Next, he received his Master of Arts degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis on Anti-Terrorism, Radical Muslim Fundamentalists and Organized Crime from Regis University. Then he received his PhD in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College where he graduated with Highest Academic Honors. Mitch also graduated from the FBI National Academy (178th session), US Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, US Army Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, and University of Nevada Las Vegas Financial Crimes-Pre licensing and Background Investigation Course.
Mitch worked for Federal Heights Police Depart for 26 years, starting as a patrol officer and working his way through the ranks to Deputy Chief. Mitch then went on to work for the State of Colorado for 16 years as a Criminal Investigator for DPA - Division of Insurance, DOR-Division of Gaming and Marijuana Enforcement Division. Mitch retired in 2021 but continued to work as a temporary investigator for the State. Mitch also served in the military for 28 years starting with the Army National Guard in 1975 where he served for six years as Military Police. In 1992 he reenlisted with the Navy Reserves as a Master of Arms where he served for 22 years, finally retiring in 2015 as a Master Chief.
Mitch lived in Westminster where he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, gardening, and driving his Corvettes. Mitch always lived life to the fullest. Mitch loved making new friends, helping people, smoking cigars and spending time with his dog Gus.
A memorial service for Mitchell will be held Friday, October 14, 2022, 10:00 AM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. Following the memorial service will be an escorted procession to Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area A, where a committal service will begin at 12:00 PM.
