Mary was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on December 4, 1943, and passed away peacefully the evening of September 26, 2024, at Sunrise of Westminster Senior Living facility, where she had resided for the past 4 years.
Mary graduated in 1961 from Adams City High School in Commerce City, Colorado. She married her husband, Tony, on August 31, 1963 and moved to Aurora, CO, where they started a family and spent the next 51 years together. Her first job was at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal as a secretary. She retired from the City of Aurora in 2006 after serving as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Library Services for 19 years. After retiring, she cared for Tony in their home in Aurora until his passing in 2014. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and walking her dog, Buddy.
Mary is survived by her children, Theresa Bilodeau (Bob) and Phillip Garcia (Dawn); grandchildren Nathan Bilodeau and Katie Bilodeau;step-grandchildren Skylar (Elijah) Williams, Taia (Bryan) Bussie; great-grandson Zeke Williams; sisters-in-law Irene (Bob) Hahn and Etta (Andrew) Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony Garcia, her parents Carmel and Edith Vaughn, her brothers William Wilson, Andrew Wilson, and sister Nina (Joe) Nakayama.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held on November 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Association – Colorado Chapter
