Jim was born September 24, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jim attended school in Annandale, Minnesota where he grew up on the farm with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Jim entered into the United States Army in 1955 and served 3 years being honorably discharged in 1958. During this time Jim served as a paratrooper, cook and marksman. He spent some of his service time at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. He also served in the Army reserves from 1958-1961. On June 14, 1958 Jim married Darlene (Dobby) Johnson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Two boys were added to this family Mark in 1961 and Todd in 1963. In 1963 the young family moved to Thornton, Colorado where Jim worked as a mason. Jim worked for many years for Jerry Grovner. During this time Jim worked on projects such as:

Thornton City Hall
Yuma Middle School
Liberty School
The Mailbox Skyscraper in Denver
Granby Middle School
And many other projects including fireplaces and walls for homes.
Jim and Dobby spent a lot of time at their cabin at Jefferson, Colorado (Lost Park Ranch). In the late 1970’s Jim and Dobby bought the property and built a brick cabin. They enjoyed many hours with family and friends fishing and exploring the mountains. After his retirement Jim moved to Yuma, Colorado and bought the Log Cabin Liquor Store. He served as an entrepreneur for 3 years. After selling the liquor store Jim returned to Thornton when Dobby retired from the State Patrol and enjoyed his retirement.
One of Jim’s other hobbies was woodworking. He would spend hours making projects and gifts for family and others. Jim and Dobby were fortunate to have many years of retirement together, enjoying children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with their daily trip to Starbucks. One of their greatest joys was taking someone out to dinner. Jim is preceded in death by: his parents Willard and Margaret Triplett, Brother Roger Triplett, Sister Judy Grossinger. Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years Dobby Triplett. Sons: Mark (Jeanne) Triplett; Todd (Kathy) Triplett. Grandchildren: Michael (Kristina) Triplett, Rachel Triplett, AJ Triplett, Dannielle Pietsch (David), and Brandi Duffy. Great Grandchildren: Kevin Glenn, Kloe Glenn, Sawyer Malave, Rylee Pietsch, Logan Pietsch. Brothers: Glenn Triplett; Lester (Sharon) Triplett; Jody (John) Kurkowski. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
A funeral service for Jim will be held 1:30 PM, Tuesday, December 10, 2024 with burial services following at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
