James "Wade" Houg passed away peacefully December 10, 2024, at his home in Brighton, CO, at the age of 54, following a long, but hard-fought illness. Wade faced his life challenges with a smile, and despite the pain, he came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Wade was born on March 23, 1970, to Douglas and Pamela (Fox) Houg, in Durango, CO. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Aurora, CO, where Wade excelled in school sports, learned sign language, was a peer counselor and was given the Outstanding Student Award in Jr. High in 1986. He was Captain of his football team, played Lacrosse in high school, and coached Little League Football.
Wade also held the weight lifting record in high school. He was an avid golfer and loved going to Mammoth games. But that was only the beginning of great things to come from Wade.
Wade was the consummate salesman. Right out of high school he started selling meat door-to-door. He had amazing success at this, as well as anything he attempted in his life! Wade would never take no for an answer. One of his key phrases was, 'Do you like me?' Some say he could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves!
Wade was a risk taker, both in business and in his personal life. He enjoyed golf, fast cars and 4-wheeling with his family and friends. He helped build his father's logistics business to huge success, and then he went on to start his own very successful business as a skilled Logistician, moving and storing things.
He met the love of his life and on July 5, 2014, Wade married Mary Lair, whereupon they blended both their families and built their business together.
Wade was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, a true friend, devoted to his family, friends & employees, very generous, honest, funny, faithful, and a true businessman.
Wade is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Evan and Caden; and daughters, Megan and Ashley; grandchildren, Kieran, Raiden, Vivian, Haven & Maverik; his mother, Pamela Fox; siblings, Troy, Jenyce, Michelle, Aletha & David; nieces and nephews,Sloane, Cole, Lucy & Wyatt, and many cousins, aunt, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Doug, and nephew, Spencer; grandparents, Delda & Jens Houg and Bill & Mossie Fox.
The sum of his life...'Do you believe?' As a believer in God, Wade's faith never faltered, and he now rests with God in Heaven...no more pain!
His family and friends will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest, as he would want.
A celebration of Wade's life will be held on January 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Church Ranch Event Center, 10200 Wadsworth Blvd., in Westminster, CO. The family kindly requests that you dress in a way that reflects your connection to him.
