Billie Hamilton Hughes

June 4, 1928 – November 11, 2019

Billie ended her time on this earth and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2019 at the age of 91. She was reunited with her devoted and loving husband

of 58 wonderful years, Houston B. (Jack) Hughes, who passed in 2013. Billie will be dearly missed by her children and their families: Janet and her children, Jayden and John (“Jack”); Patrick and Randa and their children, Jessica and Blake; John and Dawn and their daughters, Kaitlyn, Camryn, and Courtney; and Mark and Lisa and their children, Lilah (“Cricket”), Lucy, and Greyson.

Billie was born in Harrah, Oklahoma, the firstborn of eight children. She is survived by her beloved sister, Judith Davis and husband, Wayne, of Denham Springs, LA; her brother Buddy Hamilton and wife, Joan, of Georgetown, Texas; brother-in-law Jimmy Brannon (Cindy) of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews, close friends, and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elgin and Agnes Hamilton, sister Jenny Hamilton, and brothers Jerry (survived by Judie), Joroy (survived by Elizabeth), Bobby (Ethel), and Jimmy (survived by Patsy) Hamilton, and niece Paulette Hamilton.

Billie was a resident of Baton Rouge for 70 years, graduated from Istrouma High School, and attended LSU. She retired from Louisiana National Bank (LNB) and spent the last 18 years living in Westminster, CO with her daughter. Billie was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Westminster.

She loved Louisiana sports and was a big LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints fan. She never missed a game!

Family was the great love of Billie’s life, and she leaves her children and grandchildren a lifetime of wonderful memories of family vacations, holidays, and life experiences. Her favorite thing to do was to love on her grandkids, who all called her Bobo. They adore her so! She would tell them stories about times past and they could not get enough. A favorite of all the grandkids was “Bobo, tell me about when I was a baby” or “Bobo tell me about the day I was born” and she would fill in the sweetest details of their lives for them.

Billie was the best wife and mother ever and a tremendous friend and role model for all who knew her. Thanks to the promises of the Bible we know this separation is temporary. We grieve, but we will be reunited and look forward to spending eternity together.
