Albert Abeyta, age 80 from Aurora, gained his wings on 8/18/2022. He was born on 1/18/1942 in Center, CO to Gaspar and Carlota (Trujillo) Abeyta. After graduating high school he joined the Air Force and proudly served his Country for over 20 years. He obtained 2 associates and 1 Bachelor’s degree in Business. He then retired from Hughes Aircraft, and then went on and retired from 2 other companies. He worked over 44 years on Buckley Air Force Base.
He married the love of his life Rachel Abeyta and was married for over 58 years. They had 2 children Albert Abeyta and Charlotte and Jim Gochenour, Grandchildren Tyler Gochenour, Charlotte and Zac Petersen, and Selena Gochenour, and Great Granddaughter Charlotte Petersen who will miss him so much. His 3 brothers and their wives Jasper and Marie Abeyta, John and Mary (passed away this year) Abeyta and Jerry Abeyta (who passed last year) and countless nieces and nephews.
Albert loved making jewelry, gardening, reading books and taking pictures. His favorite was spending time with his family whether it was barbequing, coaching a football team for his grandson, watching a dance competition, or going to a sporting event he also showed up. This last year his ultimate favorite was spending time with his Great Granddaughter holding her, watching her grow, learning to smile and listening to her laugh. No matter what he did or who he met he always made people feel a part of whatever was happening and would bring a smile to everyone’s face with his big hugs and his amazing smile.
A rosary service will be held at 6:30pm on August 29th and the funeral service will be held in his honor at 10:30am on 8/30/2022 at St Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church located at 19099 E Floyd Ave, Aurora, CO 80013. With a reception at 12:30 at Olinger Highland 10201 North Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
