It is with a very heavy heart that the family announces the early passing of William Timothy “Tim” Purves, a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a truly great friend to many. After many courageous months, Tim succumbed to cancer peacefully on Sunday evening October 15, 2017 with his beloved wife Patti and children, Laura and Glenn by his side. He passed away on his terms - in the glow of a beautiful sunset, listening to his favourite music. He will be greatly missed by his adored grandchildren Dylan, Sophie, Alex, and Luke. He also leaves his brother Paul, daughter-in-law Mariette, sister-in-law Pam, brother-in-law Jay, niece and nephews, great niece and great nephews, and grand-dogs.
Tim was a natural athlete. Born in Toronto, he excelled in all sports, and at one time held the provincial record for high school shot put. He met his loving wife of 50 years on a train between Oslo and Stockholm and this began the family’s lifetime love of travel. He was a well loved and respected dentist who considered his patients his friends. He loved nothing more than to drink coffee early in the morning, watching the sun rise on the deck of his Muskoka cottage and to drive and show off his 1947 Ford convertible or his 1952 GMC truck. Gone far too soon, but what a legacy!
Visitation will be held Thursday October 19th, 2017 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street ,at Goulding south of Steeles). The Funeral Service will be held Friday October 20th, 2017 at 11:00am at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home.
