Our deepest condolences on Bob’s passing. Bob and my father, Carl Phillips, and 6 others built the Island Lake Hunt Camp near Bala 60 years ago.  I had the fortune of meeting Bob about 15 years ago where we played a couple of rounds of golf together.  Bob was a true gentleman and I really enjoyed our short time together. RIP Bob.

Sal also had the pleasure of golfing with Robert and regardless of the event we were at he was always so kind, interested and supportive.

He was an excellent colleague and leader—always showing respect and providing informed guidance to those who worked with him.  The example he provided set a standard for me that I tried to achieve through the rest of my career.

Dear Rita and family.    This so hard to write as we have had so many great memories and to just name one is impossible.  He was my very good friend and now I’m so grateful that I still have his wife Rita. He was my friend for 70 years and along with his wife  and my late husband  Elwyn we shared some great memories of birthdays camping and fishing and stories Bob liked to share. I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Franklin's passing.  I had the great good fortune of working closely with him when he was the Chairman,  President and CEO of Ontario Hydro.  He quietly and powerfully, by his own example,  set the standard for conducting one's professional and personal life to the highest standards of integrity, compassionate, commitment and humility.  I learned so much from him and will always remember, and be grateful for,  his support, encouragement and kindness to me personally and to all who were blessed to work with him.

Dear Rita and Family
As you know, Bob and I had a special relationship with  our work for WANO over our retirement years. I will miss him terribly.
He was by far my most memorable Executive at Ontario Hydro during his years as its CEO. I admired his fortitude and endurance in trying to turn around some of the ingrained culture in the organization.
I will always cherish my memories of our social occasions that we had  together over the past number of years.
I was always honoured to be a friend and colleague.

To The Entire Franklin Family,

In my many years at CN Telecommunications, I worked for several excellent Managers, but Bob was clearly #1 in my books.  He was always attentive and supportive and fair in sharing his reaction to some of my ideas.  Most of all, I very much appreciated the fact that he would always be willing to meet me in person, no matter how high up the Corporate ladder he attained.  And in the several years since our departure from the business world, we met for lunch on many occasions.  And I can assure you that his love for his family shone through in spades.  His last message to me on the morning of Feb. 7th telling me that his battle with cancer was over and that he did not want me to read about him in the newspapers completely overwhelmed me.  What further proof is there as to this amazing man?  May God hold him in the palm of His hand and may the Lord continue to bless and care for his family until we all meet again some day. As children growing up on Brightbay Cres in Thornhill the Franklin household was in many ways a second home to us. “Mr. Franklin” as we always referred to him had an air of authority surrounding him and we were always wide eyed in his presence knowing he was an important man. In a child’s mind knowing he worked at CN, in some ways we thought he single handedly built the CN tower! His patience with us at sleepovers on the back porch, shrieking water fights on the front lawn, countless hours in the pool and millions of dings on the doorbell to see who could “come out to play” was surely tested but he was always tolerant of our antics. We admired his  annual tradition of a “Daddy Day” with Katherine, Karen and Craig and even at a young age could see the special relationship between he and “Mrs. Franklin”. Thank you so much for MANY childhood memories. Our thoughts and hearts are with your wonderful family.  Xo

My dearest Uncle Bob,
I rememberthe early years that we shared with you and our families together in Gravenhurst and Huntsville, tobogganing together in Toronto,  stories told at your home in Thornhill as well as with with my parent's home in North York and most recently  as Steven's and my fishing buddy before Covid  hit.  I could always count on you sharing kind memories of Aunt Rita and your family's time spent with our family.  I always respected your business sense and inspiration you gave me later in my career and will continue to remember the guidance and respect I have received from you over many years.
