On April 10, 2022, Joan passed away peacefully at the age of 89. She lived in Thornhill with her loving husband Bob (Robert) Cameron where they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Joan was a loving and devoted mother and will be greatly missed by her children, Julie Anderson (husband Phil) and Paul (partner Carolynn), and grandchildren, Samantha and Cameron. Joan was predeceased by her brother Bill McDonald (survived by wife Ruth) and sister, Pat Pydyn. She was loved by many extended family members, including brother-in-law Paul (wife Barb), and her nieces, nephews, and cousins, who were all part of her many stories and incredible memory.
Joan was a truly generous human being, always putting others before herself. She loved talking with friends, appreciated time with family, enjoyed her daily shows, and was a huge sports fan (Go Jays, Leafs, Raptors!). Her favourite times were spent with family and friends on Yorkminster (in the early days), the Gazebo, Sarasota, and Southampton where we all watched the big red ball go down. Her quiet side and spirituality flourished when she spent time reading, chatting with other book club members, connecting with peers in Unit 12, and watching online services at Eglinton St. George's United Church. Joan has taught us all what it means to love unconditionally and how to appreciate the simple things in life. She will be missed by all her knew her.
Visitation will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, (8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill), on Tuesday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a reception for all friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward Eglinton St. George's United Church (Unit 12) or North York General Hospital.
