Emily Patrick

Passed away peacefully after a long illness at age 95 at the Sunnybrook Unit within the Reactivation Care Centre (Church Site).

Emily is survived by her three loving children, Janet, Caroline (Michael Simpson), and Ronald. She was the cherished grandmother of Caryl (Claudio), Jeffrey (Marisa), Kevin (Olivia), Emily, and Jimmy. Emily was a special great grandmother to Annika, Matthew, James, and Amy. Emily was a beloved sister to Mary Krul, sister-in-law Anelia Wright, and cousin Stanley Pateris. She will be sadly missed by many extended family members and neighbours.

Emily is predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Dr. Zenon (Pat) Patrick (2010). They shared a long and vibrant life together raising their family in Montreal, Harrow, Oakland (California), Toronto, and Vineland. Emily was a devoted and skilled homemaker. She loved to entertain her guests with her remarkable cooking and baking skills. She enjoyed the finer things in life, and her home and wardrobe reflected her good taste. She took great pride in all of her family’s accomplishments and milestones.

Emily will be remembered for her feisty nature and opinions on a diversity of topics. She was a voracious reader of non-fiction and had a great deal of interest in current events and politics. Emily also had great appreciation for art, contemporary fashion, and music. In her later years, she remained independent and looked forward to socializing with family and friends.

Emily has been cremated and a small family gathering is being planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Emily’s honour.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the care teams from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre that provided Emily with compassionate care for the past three months.
