Passed away peacefully at Norfinch Community Care Centre in her 98th year, on December 20, 2024. Beloved wife of Maurice A. Crawford. Dear mother of Mary (Stan) Feenstra, David (Kathy) Salt and John (Lorene) Salt and by Maurice’s children Margaret (Michael) Millard, the late Anne Crawford (John Parnell), Catherine (Jerome) Dupuis and Andrew (Cindy) Crawford. Dear grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of 31. Survived by her brother Douglas Jackson. Predeceased by Maurice in 2017 and her first husband, Donald J. Salt in 1965, her brother George and her sister Elizabeth (Betty). Ann was raised on Lonelm farm on Finch Avenue west of Dufferin Street in Elia (current day North York). Ann received her early education at Weston Collegiate followed by a degree in Household Economics at the University of Toronto. After graduation she worked for the Department of Agriculture as a County Home Economist, leaving that job to marry Donald and start raising a family. Following Donald’s passing, Ann attended Teacher’s College and subsequently taught Home Economics at Wilson Heights Junior High School, in North York. Ann and Maurice married in 1972, and the family settled in Thornhill, where Ann became an active member of Thornhill United Church. For the last 13 years, Ann was a resident of Glynnwood Retirement Residence in Thornhill. Heartfelt thanks to Maria and Yolanda for their caregiving and companionship over the last several years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service and reception will follow at 2:00 p.m. Private burial to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Thornhill United Church would be appreciated.
