A resident of this area all of his life, Harold was born on October 21, 1930 in Davidson County to the late Will Brown and Ellen McFadden Shavis. He had worked as a truck driver for many years and loved sports. His greatest passion was playing golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Johnson and Florence Coleman and brothers, Edward, Eugene, and Charles Shavis.
He was the loving husband of Mary McFadden who survives of the home; also surviving are three sons, Donald McFadden of New York, Harold Anthony McFadden of California, and Derrick McFadden and his wife Vanessa of Wyoming; two grandsons, Damien and Malcolm; sister, Catherine Burns of Detroit, MI; sisters-in-law, Ruth Shavis of Thomasville, Dorothy Alexander of Maryland, and Bessie Langford of Winston-Salem; and brothers-in-law, Esaw Johnson of Thomasville and Gene A. Ingram of High Point; Harold is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday, November 14th in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with Pastor Roy Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens in Jamestown. Visitation will be from 12-12:30pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Public viewing will be from 1 until 5 pm Friday, November 13th at the funeral home.
