Everett Dean Smith, 77, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Thomasville Medical Center following a year of declining health.
Dean was born August 26, 1945, in Scott County, Kentucky, a son of the late William Thomas Smith and Eugenia Sanford Smith. He was in the Army Reserves and he worked for CPP for 10 years until the company closed. Dean enjoyed music, played piano, but especially enjoyed golf, playing with the Yadkin Seniors. He was a member of the board of directors of the Yadkin Seniors and played often at Winding Creek.
Dean was preceded in death by four siblings.
Surviving are his loving companion and friend for 29 years, Kathy Chadwell; two sons, James Smith and his wife Paula and Stephen Smith; two step-daughters, Candy King and Cassy Taylor; two grandchildren, Justin Smith and Christin Fleshman; three step-grandchildren, Ethan McMahan, Dakota King and Erin Taylor; and fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Smith and Virginia Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Pleasant Grove UMC Cemetery by Pastor Rodney Burton. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Sechrest-Davis Funerals & Cremations of Thomasville.
