Sara Frances Herring Stovall of Houston, Texas, passed away June 17, 2017, at the age of 91. She was born July 5, 1925, in Holt, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Samuel and Hester Pumphrey, who reared her and her two brothers, James and Herbert Herring.
On June 9, 1951, Sara and Francis Davis Stovall III, of Clinton, Mississippi, were married at First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. They had two sons, Francis Davis IV and Charles William. Francis has a daughter, Dolores. They live in Izamal Yucatan, Mexico. Son, Charles William, and wife, Elizabeth Mary Salinas, have two children, Colin, of San Antonio, and daughter, Shannon Michelle (deceased).
Sara earned the degree BS in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama in 1951. For twenty years she held the position of Director of Personnel Services in the Business Office of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.
The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to Tallowood Baptist Church, and especially the SonShine Sunday School Class for their faithful ministrations of Christian love and caring during Sara’s lengthy decline. It is our wish that contributions be made to Senior Ministries at Tallowood Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Rd, Houston, Texas 77024. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, interment will take place at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
