Ruby Phyllis Stevens went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2012. As peaceful as she always hoped it would be and with a smile on her face, she left this earth. Today she is walking streets of gold.
After a 30 year career as a bookkeeper, she retired from Baker-Hughes in 1995. Ruby volunteered at Walls Regional Hospital in Cleburne for many years. She served as the treasurer of the auxiliary and worked with patients as they prepared to go home. She was a two-time cancer survivor. She loved shopping and shoes. A long-time member of Calvary Baptist and current member of Gateway Baptist Church were she was the president of her bible study class.
Originally from Virginia, Ruby and her family made their home wherever they were sent. The military life provided opportunities to meet people and make friends from lots of places.
Preceded in death by her husband Louis, brother Randell Anderson and sister-in-law Leilani Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Tammy (Glen) Esskew of Houston, son Ronnie (Tammie) Stevens of Belton, grandchildren Eric Rosner, David Capps, Brittany (Sean) Moore, Louie & Nolan Esskew, Desiree Stevens, and great-grandchild Olivia Moore; brother Russell (Joyce) Anderson, sister Debra (Charlie) Johnson, sister-in-law Gail Anderson, nieces Shari, Lisa, Melanie, and Melissa, nephews Jimmy and Russ, and good friends Juanita, Jackie, Dee, Connie, Linda, Bill and Daniel.
