Robert A. Warriner, III

Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., age 62, departed his earthly life on August 2, 2012. Surrounded by loving family, Bob died at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center after first being diagnosed with multiple myeloma six years ago.

Bob is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen; daughter Amy Lemire and her husband Daniel; granddaughter Emma Lemire; daughter Lesley Davies and her husband Denton; brother Mark and his wife Trudy; sister Judith; and mother Alice. His father, Robert, preceded him in death in January.

Born to Alice Watkins and Robert A. Warriner II in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bob spent his childhood in Metairie. Bob graduated from Mid City Baptist High School, New Orleans; Tulane University; and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Trained as Resident in Anesthesiology at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation, New Orleans and as Clinical Fellow in Critical Care Medicine, Dept. of Anesthesia, Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Traveling the nation and the world to increase his training and to educate others Bob devoted his life to patient care in anesthesiology, critical care medicine, wound care and hyperbaric medicine.

As a 28 year resident of Montgomery County, Bob dedicated himself to excellence in care for our community. At Conroe Regional Medical Center Bob served as Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit; Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy; Chairman of the Dept. of Anesthesia; Medical Director of Regional Medical Support Services; and as founder and Medical Director of Southeast Texas Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. From 1993 – 1999 he enthusiastically served as the Montgomery County District EMS Medical Director. He was also Medical Director for the EMT Training program of North Harris/Montgomery College District and for Rural/Metro Ambulance Corps, South Texas Division.

Bob proudly served in the military beginning with his Tulane USAF ROTC training. From 1980 to 1983 he served as staff anesthesiologist and Director, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Wilford Hall, Lackland AFB. Then at USAF Hospital, Luke AFB he served as Chief, Anesthesia Service and Medical Director having attained the rank of Major, USAF MC.

Known to most as “Doctor Bob”, he was devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and took a servant’s attitude to his professional life, to his Christian walk in service and to family. For 24 years he and his wife devoted time and energy to Vacation Bible School programs for several hundred Mexico churches. Doctor Bob made time for medical mission trips to Malaysia, Kenya and Nigeria.

The last ten years Bob was employed as Chief Medical Officer for national corporations Praxis and Diversified and most recently with Healogics, that developed care in wound management. He excelled in education, leadership, and writing to promote high standards in medical practice. Bob has a long list of national and international honors and awards for the advancement of clinical hyperbaric medicine and wound healing. He will be sorely missed as an expert in the management of the wound care patient.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 11 at First Baptist Church The Woodlands. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary with interment to follow at Forest Park The Woodlands.
