Bob was the beloved husband of Michelle Ann Robinson and beloved father of four children, Robert Harold (Roxanne), Scott Crag (Liette), Brock Darren (Victoria), and Michelle Ann. He was also beloved "Grandpa" and "Papa" of Zachary, Ashton, Blake, Meagan, Grae, Logan, Courtney, and Bailey. Bob met Michelle when he was sixteen and she was fourteen. They were married June 16, 1962 and would have celebrated their 53rd anniversary this year.
He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1959. He was captain of both his basketball and football teams. He also ran track and played baseball. He was president of the student council and his senior class. Bob was Homecoming king and voted class favorite. Bob attended Western Michigan University studying Engineering and working to support himself.
Bob spent his entire career dedicated to the grocery business. He began his career at A & P Tea Company where he started at an entry level position and worked his way into management. Following his four years there, Bob spent the next 40 years with both Kroger and H-E-B in Michigan, Kansas, and Texas, where he held many management positions in numerous cities until he retired in 2002.
He is preceded in death by his mom, who he lost when he was nine, and later in life by his dad. Michelle's dad and mom, who in his heart he felt as if they were his own, grandma Burkitt, grandma and grandpa Schieber, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Bob loved to golf, fish, hunt, cook, and grill. He loved photography, especially taking pictures of his grandchildren. He enjoyed building and remodeling which he and Michelle spent many vacations doing in their early years. They spent the later years of their marriage traveling and spending time with family. He had three beloved pets, two golden retrievers, Brandy Girl and Mandy Girl, and a cat named Black Jack.
Bob loved his family and friends. He loved his job, and made many friends during his life in business, church, and civic activities. He was a member of First Christian Church and served in the capacity of deacon, treasurer, and chairman of stewardship. He served on the boards of the food bank, the chamber of commerce, and Junior Achievement. He was a staunch supporter of the Republican Party and a deep love for flag and country. Much loved personal friends of Bob's were, Ed and Ruth Reist, Steve and Carol Lehto, Patti and David DeFrance, Bob and Sherry Whitely, Charles and Wanda Barker, and Mike and Brenda Nance. Bob loved his brother-in-law Crag like a brother and his wife, Carolyn, like a sister. He had numerous nieces and nephews, including Cindy, Chad and Curt Bush, special cousins Diane Kleis, Steven and Rick Newhouse, who Bob used to babysit, and whose mom, Michelle's Aunt Mary Lou, introduced Bob and Michelle to each other. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We know our lives have been very blessed to have had him in it and he is forever in our hearts.
