Born on June 11, 1949, in Hope, Arkansas, Robert was the third of four children in the loving family of Frances and Joe Polk. After graduating from DeQueen High School in 1967, he pursued his passion for business at Henderson State University. In 1974, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army, embarking on a journey that would take him across the United States and even to Germany. His time in the military gave him the chance to serve his country while exploring new places and cultures, experiences that shaped his adventurous spirit and love for travel.
Robert’s sense of humor and storytelling ability were unmatched. He had a rare gift for bringing joy and laughter to everyone he met, always ready with a joke or an entertaining tale. His warmth and easygoing nature made him a magnet for friends and family alike, and his presence lit up every room.
He was a man of many passions. He loved fishing, trying his luck at the casino, and taking cruises to explore new places. An avid golfer, he enjoyed spending time on the greens, but it was the moments spent with family that brought him the most joy. Robert’s love for travel took him far and wide, yet no matter where he went, his heart was always with those he loved.
Robert’s legacy will live on in the memories of all who knew him, especially his beloved family. He is survived by his siblings: Linda Wright, Joe Polk and Becky Peek, his wife of 50 years, Susan Polk, his children: Kelly Randolph and her husband Steven, Jason Polk and his wife Emily, and Jennifer Looper and her husband Ian. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren—Mackenzie, Braden, Grace, Madelyn, Emerson, Landon, and Jackson—who will forever treasure the laughter, love, and lessons he shared with them.
A private celebration of Robert’s life will take place at the family ranch in New Waverly, where his spirit will continue to be felt in the hearts of those who knew him best.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to The Lymphoma Research Foundation, ensuring his legacy of generosity and love endures.
