Robert Ernest Langford, 87, of The Woodlands, TX, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2021, at his home, The Auberge Memory Care Center, surrounded by the love of his family, friends, and caring staff.
Robert was born in Comanche, Texas on April 2, 1934, to the late Margaret and Ernest Langford. He made his family complete as the youngest of five siblings. His childhood was spent in Brownwood, Texas. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1953 and married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Nan Horne, on June 17, 1953. Robert and Nan started their family in Austin while Robert earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, while working full time.
An entrepreneur and dealmaker at heart, he spent his early years working for Levi Strauss Co. Robert’s career with the company afforded him and his family the opportunity to move and live in multiple places across the United States. Eventually, his career led him to return to his home state where he owned and operated a successful advertising agency and other real estate investment enterprises in Fort Worth. Robert built and maintained a wide network of business colleagues and friends throughout his life. It was a priority for him to donate his time and be active within his community including, but not limited to, his service with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fort Worth. In 2002, he and Nan retired to Rockport, Texas where his days were filled with fishing, reading, solving crossword puzzles, making new friends wherever he went with his contagious personality and laugh, and anticipating regular weekend visits from his grandchildren. After losing his wife in 2011, he moved to The Woodlands, Texas to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Robert was a positive and uplifting person, determined to ensure his loved ones only believed the best about themselves. He was passionate and lived life to the fullest. The adage "work hard, play hard” surmised his approach to the world aptly. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends. He had a witty sense of humor and could captivate a crowd with his storytelling. Robert was humble and generous; he had a tremendous amount of gratitude for all the blessings in his life, and shared that unselfishly. He will be profoundly missed.
Robert was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife and partner of 58 years, Nan Horne Langford; his parents, Margaret and Ernest Langford; his siblings Wanda Graham, Dr. Al Langford, James Langford, and Nell Bishop; his daughter Gina Langford Hardman; and his granddaughter, Lara Nan Langford.
He is survived by his son, Steve (Toby) Langford of Webster, Texas; son, Russel (Janis) Langford of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren Randi (Greg) Reams, Michael (Mary) Langford, Maggie (Lee) Donovan, Lindsey (Chad) Brown, Clinton (Kate) Cottom, Ryan Cottom, and Leslie (Benjamin) Perez; great-grandchildren Lara Langford, Peyton Langford, Harper Langford, Watson Langford, Mason Reams, Teagyn Reams, Delaney Donovan, Emmaline Brown, and Ford Perez, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2 pm located at Forest Park – The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX
