She was born in Minnora, West Virginia on February 9, 1932. Mary graduated from Springfield High School in Akron, Ohio and received a BA in Education from Ohio State University. She was married to Harley E. Gunderson on March 3, 1956. Mary was self-employed in residential cleaning for A Homemaker’s Dream. She had a passion for family, art, nature and cooking.
She is preceded in death by husband Harley; parents Harley and Thelma Knotts; siblings Phyllis Hale, Dorothy Toth, and Garnette Dorsey; brothers Marshal, Edgar, and Matthew Knotts.
She is survived by children Ernest (Cynthia), and Karl, Rex (Kathy) Gunderson; grandchildren Elizabeth and Jennifer Gunderson, Mykayla Pfursich (Tyler), Triston Gunderson, Justin Gunderson (Angela), and Ashley Wiecek (Greg); sister, Judy Dillon; along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be held in Akron, Ohio, Hillside Memorial Park, for a private family service.
